Our Team

  • Jenny Williams

    Founder and Executive Director

Jenny Williams has been a runner since the late 70’s, prior to Title IX, when she ran for her high school’s boys cross-country team. She walked onto the Dartmouth Women’s’ Cross County team in 1981 and discovered the great joy of running in the woods in New England. Williams has supported youth running programs since 2006, when coaching her son’s middle school cross-country program sparked the idea for Finding Our Stride.

Williams is a Joint Venture Partner with hotel development firm Norwich Partners. She has served on the boards of WISE; the Children’s Literacy Foundation; the Hopkins Center at Dartmouth College; the Montshire Museum of Science; the Upper Valley advisory board of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation; and Let’s Grow Kids.

Prior to her work with Norwich Partners, Williams worked in higher education fundraising for 15 years, including 13 with Dartmouth College. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in French from Dartmouth and her Master's degree in Public Administration from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service.  She and her husband Stan live in Norwich, Vermont and have three grown children.  She enjoys trail running, cycling, triathlons, theater, reading and travel.

  • Marisa Donovan

    Director of Development and Operations

Marisa Donovan lives in the Upper Valley with her husband, Eamonn, and son, Everett. She skates with Twin State Derby, the region's only women's flat track roller derby league, and plays with their travel team, the Upper Valley Vixens. Marisa likes to trail run and hike locally as cross training for roller derby, and she also enjoys snowboarding and Nordic skiing in the winter.

Marisa comes to Finding Our Stride with a background in advancement work for non-profits. In addition to Twin State Derby, she serves on the boards of Thetford Academy and The Kindred Village Center, and chairs Hartford-Norwich Holiday Basket Helpers. Marisa earned her BA in English from the University of Vermont in 2003 and completed a Masters in Creative Writing at Dartmouth College in 2011. She traveled to Cuba twice to research and write her thesis, "First Milk," a collection of poems based on interviews with Cuban women.

You can find her exploring the woods or excavating at a "job site" around the house with Everett, reading, hitting up local flea markets, antique shops, and junk stores, or traveling in her free time.

  • Mike Fenzel

    Mike Fenzel

    School Partnerships Coordinator

Mike Fenzel is an avid ultra runner and lives in the Upper Valley with his wife and son. For more than two decades, he worked with students, teachers, and principals throughout Vermont and New Hampshire as an educator and program manager at the Montshire Museum of Science. As director of the museum’s summer camps and overnights, and lead developer on many grant-supported initiatives to enhance STEM learning in rural and underserved schools, Mike has extensive experience coordinating and growing programs. At the museum, science and engineering were the primary tools he used to help students develop confidence, cultivate perseverance, and inspire personal growth. As a Norwich recreation coach, parent, and lifelong member of the running community, he understands the parallel path to success that athletics offers children.

Our Vision

We envision a vibrant Upper Valley where youth thrive socially, emotionally and physically and invest in their communities.

Our Values

Inclusion & Equity: FOS believes every person should have access to opportunities to enjoy fitness and achieve social-emotional growth. We strive to ensure that every participant feels welcome at FOS, and we remove barriers so that each child and coach experiences an environment where they can grow and contribute.

Culture of Positivity: FOS fosters a culture of FUN, where runners support and celebrate one another. We prioritize participation over competition.

Opportunities for Growth: FOS welcomes kids with no running experience. We nurture self-esteem and resilience by encouraging participants to try new things and set goals for themselves. We believe fitness enhances lifelong social, emotional and physical well-being.

Collaboration: FOS values coaches as co-creators of the program, and partners with school and community leaders to implement the framework that works best for them.

Commitment to Community: FOS builds community connections by inspiring youth to help others. These connections provide purpose, motivation and resilience.
